Empowering African Caribbean Parents
A series of workshops and trainings in Creative Communication (NVC) for the African Caribbean community
Led by Zhana, author of Success Strategies for Black People.
The Government’s 2005 White Paper on Education, now an Education Bill, placed a strong emphasis on empowering parents to support their children’s education.
Meanwhile, there is an ongoing crisis, particularly affecting young African Caribbean males, involving school exclusions and expulsions. Young African Caribbean males who leave school without qualifications are more likely to end up unemployed, in trouble with the police and in the prison system.
This series of workshops will empower African Caribbean parents to:
- improve your self-esteem and self-respect
- support your children’s self-esteem
- improve the quality of your communication with your children
- improve the effectiveness of your communication with schools and the education system.
Improving Relationships/Improving Communication can be taken as an introduction to this project, or on its own.
